Apprenticeships Victoria rolls out trade opportunities for Victorian women
The following trailblazing projects have been launched to recruit more women to take the first steps in a fulfilling and rewarding career in a trade.
Funded by the Apprenticeship Innovation Fund, these innovative projects will create career pathways for female apprentices in male-dominated trades.
Accelerating Women in Auto Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce Aim: To create opportunities for 60 women to enter the industry with the Certificate II Automotive Servicing course.
WAVE Women in Electrical
Electrical Trades Union
Aim: To invite 100 women to a Try a Trade Day then recruit 30 women to start a pre-apprenticeship scheme.
Women in Plumbing
Master Plumbers
Aim: To tackle perceptions that prevent women considering plumbing and address hurdles that stop women making a career change.
CareersPlus
Trades Women Australia
Aim: An online café as focal point for women, influencers and employers to raise awareness and connect women with an estimated 150 apprentice and trainee job opportunities.
Women in STEM
AiGroup
Aim: To recruit 30 women into apprenticeships in engineering and 20 into traineeships in ICT and Industry 4.0.
SPRINKS Female Specific Apprenticeship Pathway
National Fire Industry Association
Aim: To recruit 30 female school leavers into the fire protection industry, provide pre-apprenticeship training and connections with employers.
Women and Their Trade
NECA Education & Careers
Aim: To recruit 25 women looking to change careers, providing a wage subsidy (to remove the age disincentive for women over 21) and other support to enable the women to complete their apprenticeship.
